Last month we went on a five-day skiing trip to Val di Fassa in the Northern Italian region of Trentino. The last few years we shifted from skiing in Austria to skiing in Italy, and that's mostly because we became real enthusiasts about all things Italian, but also because we find Italian slopes to be really well maintained, often wide and sunny, and then, there is this atmosphere of wildness, roughness and the sense of freedom that you get surrounded by bare rocky peaks of the Dolomites.

We came to Kew on October afternoon, which except for being a bit chilly, turned out to be the perfect timing both for the colors of the leaves that started to turn yellow, red and brown, but also for the late afternoon light that pierced through the branches of the trees and over the river Thames. I would love to come back in spring, to observe the changes and the rush of colors and life coming into the garden.

t has become a tradition on this blog to write one long post at the beginning of each year, about all the things I loved in the previous year, and I'm keeping with it. It is a lovely tradition. With a nasty cold, fever and cough that I had, we still decided to make a day trip from Rostock (where we were staying for 3 days) and visit Ahrenshoop, a village inside Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. A beautiful Instagram profile called Seesuechtig and created by talented Anja Hapke, made us want to visit Rostock in the first place, a relatively short drive from Berlin, where we spent the month of February.
